These 5 Core Health Values can create a healthier you! What you value propels you forward to do your best work ever! Not just in business, but in flourishing your inner creativity, nurturing those you love, and most importantly, taking care of YOU.
Self care is the key to longevity…
1. Sustainability
Do you give, give, give and then one day realize that you’re feeling burned out? Are you the one who focuses on doing everything perfectly or taking the majority of responsibility?
If that sounds like you it’s time to STOP and refocus on what’s sustainable. Flirting with burn out is risky business, yet so many business people take these risks by not practicing good self care. Yet when you can be dedicated to focus yourself on balance and creating a lifestyle that feeds both your career and those of others, while delegating responsibilities to key people, you’ll create more inner freedom.
If freedom is what you’re ultimately seeking by driving your own car through the road of life, then you’re open to change. Guessing you’re probably not in your career to do others’ dirty work but reality is that not all work is fun.
Suggestion: Have a look at your daily schedule and re-examine what’s draining your energy. Then decide and change how you can eliminate that energy trap.
Now look at what nourishes your soul (the stuff that really excites you the most). How can you add more of that into your life and work? Whether its a few quiet moments of daily meditation, journaling or self-reflection, a hot bath or a great workout, define a few of your most favorite energizing activities.
Make the conscious decision and effort to build these happier healthier activities into your daily planner. You’ve just built some healthier habit forming, sustainable feel good times.
2. Happiness
Many studies show happiness has nothing to do with money or exterior factors. Cultivating true happiness has a lot more to do with our inner dialogue than anything else. How often do we stop to smell the roses, notice the little things, find gratitude in your daily routine?
No one can flourish and create a business and life they love if they aren’t experiencing gratitude and happiness. The research behind happiness shows several key happiness success factors. Expressing our feelings to loved ones, cultivating kindness and doing good deeds, finding and emphasizing our own unique strengths and being mindful and being present, all propel us to find a deeper sense of true happiness. I get it! The challenge is doing most of these things daily.
Make the time for a daily gratitude check, and if something feels like it’s missing, take the steps to fill that void.
Are there areas in your life or business that need transformation before you can feel truly happy?
Planning for conscious change plants a seed of intention that can grow into something astounding when nourished with your positive action steps.

3. Mobility
Feeling stiff and full of tension? Are you lacking the energy to get moving and do what you know will help you look and feel better? As far as hard working and extremely dedicated people go, you’re not alone. There’s an unspoken layer of physical neglect running rampant among successful business people. Women especially find it difficult to focus on their physical needs and goals. Over time this builds into a lot of tension, body soreness, joint pain and back problems stemming from a lack of self care of your body.
Activity is what us humans were made for, even if it’s just a daily walk or standing up at our desks on an hourly basis.
Sitting all day is killing us. As a minimum, it’s making us more unhealthy. You need to find an activity that you love, that you want to engage in and literally run with it. Seeing a chiropractor certainly can help you to figure out an action plan. They can identify your unique physical suffering and how it can be alleviated at it’s source.
This kind of self care involves some investment in yourself. Sure you might be taking time away from work but what’s the point of being successful in business if our physically wasting away? Do you live to work? Or do you work to create the life of your dreams? Your question, now in your court.
I believe if you invest in your health and you’ll create REAL wealth.
4. Inspiration
The definition of PURPOSE: an exalted kind of feeling or impulse to DO something with all of your heart and mind, fully engage.
This is what it means to be inspired, it’s a type of fuel that is positively unrivalled and when this type of energy lies behind your personal initiatives you are bound for success.
Studies into the effects of inspiration on our lives shows increased self-efficacy, self-esteem, and optimism.
“Mastery of work, absorption, creativity, perceived competence, self-esteem, and optimism were all consequences of inspiration, suggesting that inspiration facilitates flow, creativity, and important psychological resources.”
So I ask the question, what is it that inspires you?
Whatever it is, don’t underestimate what power inspiration has over your health and your life.
5. Relaxation
A huge part of ongoing health and vitality is our capacity to rest and rejuvenate. This day and age is a perfect situation for an overworked nervous system. Even when there’s time to relax, most people don’t even have the ability to really wind down. Separating ourselves from our business can be hard. But it’s crucial in finding the peace of mind necessary to truly relax and let go. Regular time off from work helps. Planned or perhaps even better are spontaneous vacations. Creating events and restful time is essential to your mental, physical and spiritual health.
Most importantly is to infuse your daily routine with little moments of relaxation. Even if it’s just a “time-out break” when you’re feeling overwhelmed.
Escape to a quiet place or go outside and take a few deep breaths, stretch your body, remind your nervous system that going into fight or flight state really isn’t productive.
Take time daily for self care to de-stress and let go of what you can’t change anyways.
Lastly, do something every day that moves you towards a happier healthier you.
After all, what’s your time, effort and career really all about anyways… You!
