What’s your definition of success?
Is it Money? Prestige? Influence?
Freedom? The NEW Success is more about alignment with a high degree of happiness and fulfillment.
AND your health has more to do with your success than you likely realize.
What does success mean if you don’t have your mental, physical and emotional health to show for it all?
More important than anything in success is your mental state.
Many would identify healthy mental and emotional states with their highest health needs as they are and fulfilling Maslow’s highest hierarchy of needs, self-actualization.
It’s that feeling of power to feel you’re achieving your full potential as a human being.
How we think determines how we act.
Many get caught up in negative energy, draining your energy in a spiraling bad feedback loop.
NOT very self-actualizing!
“Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude.”
-Thomas Jefferson
The human brain is hardwired but the mind is intricate, complex and trainable… neuroplastic, if you will . We can be irrational and stubborn in our ways. Habits are hard to break, but when it’s bad habits holding you back from achieving your dreams, breaking them yields success.
What are the mental hurdles holding you back from true success?
Fear is the basis of most mental afflictions which keep us from realizing our true potential. We don’t want to fail, our poor egos wouldn’t be able to handle it. There’s no shame in failure though. All of the greats have failed too many times to count, the difference being they got back on the horse and kept trying.
“Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.”
-Henry Ford
In order to grow, in business and in life, we have to be challenged. Think of a seed, we plant a seed and cover it with dirt, the challenge it faces is to push through the darkness. That’s just the beginning for that little seed, it then is faced with the demands of the environment and whether or not it will be nurtured enough to grow into a bountiful plant. We’re the same, the challenges will never disappear and expecting to reach a certain point and find bliss is unrealistic.
Continually staying positive and pushing through the challenges is a strategy for lasting success.
Some days we just have to let things go, we can’t do it all and there’s no such thing as perfect. Our minds want us to create this perfect life, the perfect business without any stress or friction. It’s easy to get caught up in everything that’s going wrong. We’re trained in school to think this way, to find a solution to every problem. Sometimes though, we have to let it go if we want to retain our sanity. I don’t think any one of us became an entrepreneur so that we could lie up in bed each night worrying. Just a bit of space is sometimes all that’s needed for the solutions to arise.
Taking life less seriously and remembering to have fun is why we’re all doing this.
There’s a fine line when it comes to having your own business and letting it own you. Take control, remember what freedom feels like. Don’t be afraid of a little R&R and spending quality time with loved ones. In the end, it actually helps our business and our networking and makes us more human.
Your health is a crucial element to your mind state.
Making sure we keep our stress levels in check, get plenty of sleep and eat high quality nutrient dense food is essential. Always pay attention to how you feel in the physical sense as this can have key implications in regards to mental health. We are what we eat and drink so make wise choices.

Procrastination is an entrepreneurs worst enemy “I’ll get to it tomorrow”. We’re all guilty of this, and when tomorrow rolls around, it’s even less likely that we’ll actually get to it. So why do we say we’re going to do something and then not do it? Most of us know this isn’t a very productive habit. Either we’re scared to commit or we want it for the wrong reasons. Over time, procrastination can become a habit and even a lifestyle.
If you’re stuck in chronic “putting it off” mode, it’s time to analyze where exactly that’s coming from. Are we looking for distractions to take our minds off the task at hand? Tasks like chronic social media or email checking are a great excuse many of us make when we procrastinate.
The last mental hurdle that really holds us back is not aiming high enough.
Setting high goals is the key to constant improvement.
We want to set goals that to many might seem unattainable, heck even to us they don’t seem realistic.
“According to Oprah, the biggest hurdle people need to overcome in order to be successful is their belief that there are limits to how much they can accomplish. Goals need to be set and set high; expectations need to be limitless; and ambition cannot be restrained. “If you believe you can only go so far, it is an obstacle.” -Oprah
Oprah is a shining example of someone who believed in themselves enough to push through and go for the gold.
“You get in life what you have the courage to ask for,” she says. “Always continue the climb.”
Most of us aren’t asking for enough, and we’re doubting that we are deserving. Be grateful for what you have, but don’t be afraid to push the boundaries.
If it weren’t for extra-ordinary people like you and I pushing the boundaries, the world wouldn’t be the same world.

More than anything it is our minds which hold us back.
Once we wrap our heads around the fact that anything is possible, and that we are worthy of success, the world is at our fingertips.
