Stop Sleepwalking Through Life!
5 Surefire Ways to Wake Up to Your Passion
Complacency. It’s a REAL passion killer!
Boredom with life gets under our skin in a subtle sort of way.
Imagine, one day waking up and feeling like you’ve settled for less than 100% effort.
Feeling depressed… Deep down you knew that you could do better…
STOP! YOU know that you can still meet your true potential and fulfill your life purpose in a better way!
…but how?
What do you really work for?
You’re not doing it for the shiny objects themselves, are you?
No, more truthfully it’s how they make us feel… special and appreciated.
Sentiments of abundance and accomplishment might show up as fresh flowers adorning your desk, new clothes or a brand new car.
Objects of desire simply represent our deeper longings for comforting feelings and emotions.
Living your dream means finding your passion. Entrepreneurs and business owners often feel trapped in the businesses they’ve created.
We change, we grow and we evolve into ourselves and sometimes we outgrow the original business we’ve created.
If you’re feeling drained and uninspired there’s a good chance that it’s time to re-evaluate everything that’s truly meaningful to you.
What are the things and who are the people that are most meaningful to you in your life?
The world needs more people who are passionate about what they do!
For so many of us we’ve strived more towards the money, and less the deeper desired feelings that money brings.
Don’t delay!
There’s no time to waste!
To discover your true passion and your purpose you need to ask the tough questions.
What do you really live for and how can you get to a place where you feel deeply satisfied with the work you do in this world we live in?
1. Find out what it is you really want
Time to look at our lives and dissect what our material belongings represent to us. Our homes likely represent a sense of security and comfort. The clothes we wear might embody our desire to be liked or viewed in a certain way. At the root of everything we own and have strived for is a desired emotional outcome.
The purpose of really looking at what our things represent is to remind us what our core values are. Often the things we care about most represent the values with which we can make the most difference in the world.
Getting creative and letting our imaginations run wild while starting to ask ourselves purposeful questions sets us on the right path. Who we admire often shows a lot about what our ideal life would look like.
2. How do others see you?
Isn’t it strange how blind we can be to our own gifts? I’ve known so many talented people who were oblivious to their true power. What would your friends say you’re great at? What reason do people naturally seek you out? Is it in alignment with your present offerings and services? If not, it would be wise to reconfigure what exactly you are putting out into the world. We can’t do it all so we may as well do what we’re good at.
Ask around if need be, seek out the opinion of your peers and family, this is great guidance to start you on the path towards finding your passion. Remember what you loved to do as a kid, its easy to forget but maybe try picking up your youthful hobbies and seeing if the spark is still there.

3. Seeking alignment
A lot of us entrepreneurs start businesses thinking it’ll be easy, that once it’s all established the business will take care of itself. In some cases this definitely works, but other times it’s really hard and we create something that we aren’t totally satisfied with, that we don’t feel one hundred percent in alignment with. There’s no worse feeling than pouring our energy into something we’re not fully in love with.
The term work life balance tends to symbolize an inherent division between the two. Work and life for entrepreneurs aren’t separate, no matter how hard we try, our work always comes home with us. Coming from a place of insecurity and disinterest in what we’re doing makes it all the more difficult to live a life filled with pleasure. Instead of having to dissociate because we’re displeased, what about actually creating a business around something we love. Plant the seeds, the growth will start to occur naturally and as it grows nurturing it will be a lot easier if its something we truly love.
4. Rhythm and stride
All of life is rhythm, behind everything in nature is a heartbeat of sorts. Finding our stride is all about stepping into what we feel we’re meant to do. Syncing up with the rhythm of all life, every being has an innate purpose, it’s only humans who’ve forgotten that. Can we walk the walk and talk the talk?
The mentality to go go go and not stop until retirement is getting outdated. Natural laws of rhythm may perpetuate constant motion but that motion has ebb and flow. Keep changing and shifting until you hit your stride, don’t be afraid to change things up, take breaks, go to new places, improve your health, commit to you.
5. Anything is possible
Abolish thoughts of sparsity, quit questioning whether it’s realistic to find your passion and fulfill your purpose. Here’s the reality, the power resides within all of us, if we want to truly flourish we need to trust in our ability to do so.
A ship in harbor is safe — but that is not what ships are built for.
We hear other peoples’ success stories but do we ever think that could be us? We hear about failures just as much as we do successes and many of us embody more of the possibility that that could be us. Challenge yourself to think in the positive about everything you do.
I think it’s normal to question our abilities. We can make all the excuses in the world not to do something just to avoid failure or even to avoid success. Yes, you’ve probably heard that the fear of success is a common mental block. We can’t all have PhD’s and 8 years of university under our belts and that doesn’t make our gifts any less authentic and viable. Stop doubting and start doing!
