Whiplash! A bighorn sheep ram and vehicle collide.

Whiplash is a very real possibility, even with a low speed impact with a bighorn sheep.

A recent trip to the Rockies by a friend with her family resulted in capturing this amazing video from their dash cam.  You’ll likely want to re-watch this incredible scene of a Canadian bighorn sheep (ram) run out and seemingly ram the truck while the dashcam catches every detail of this dramatic incident.

Fortunately for the ram, it appears to bounce off the front end of this Dodge vehicle and run off relatively unscathed. Local police authorities did an area search for an injured animal that turned out negative. Unfortunately one of the human occupants of the vehicle suffered mild whiplash as a result of the incident even though all were wearing safety belts at the time.

The reason that I share this video is that I reflected on a few lessons as a coaching and teaching opportunity from watching this video, knowing the people and hearing the story behind the incident.

1. Animal-vehicle incidents can happen fast and unexpectedly
2. Relatively low impact vehicle accidents can cause injury
3. Always wear your safety belt to minimize injury to occupants
4. Get checked by your local chiropractor who is an expert in spine care and injuries to the spine.
